Community Thanksgiving Meal seeking volunteers and donations

Oak Hill, WV (WOAY) – Last month, we reported that the Community Thanksgiving Meal was taking requests for this year’s holiday dinner giveaway.

Now that the meal request deadline has passed, the organizers are looking for volunteers and donors to help provide and prepare 3,000 hot meals for the holiday.

Organizers are requesting food donations, such as desserts that can be individually packaged, canned green beans, cranberry sauce, and chicken broth.

However, what they need most are turkeys.

Organizers will need 125 whole turkeys and 125 turkey breasts to meet their orders.

Monetary donations are also acceptable to assist with the purchase of necessary items and can be addressed to St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church at 345 Kelly Avenue, Oak Hill, WV 25901, including a note stating the donation is for the Community Thanksgiving meal.

Volunteers are needed to help prepare, package, and donate the single-serve desserts.

Meal prep will begin at 8:00 am on November 20 at the Lewis Community Center.

Organizers also seek a dedicated clean-up crew of 5 to 6 people at the Lewis Community Center at 11:00 am on Thanksgiving day.

Anyone interested in donating or volunteering can call 304-382-1421 or message communitythanksgivingmeal@outlook.com.
