Beckley, WV (WOAY) A community discussion on the impact of West Virginia’s growing digital economy is coming to Beckley this week.
A presentation titled “Powering the Machine: The Real Cost of West Virginia’s Digital Boom” is taking place on Friday, August 7, at 6:30 p.m. at the Beckley Women’s Club art 200 Park Avenue.
Assistant Professor Josh Keck of Mountwest Community and Technical College will discuss how data centers operate, their impact on power and water use, and the policies shaping their expansion across the Mountain State.
The presentation will also examine the effects of House Bill 2014 on local communities and explore the use of AI-powered surveillance technology, including Flock cameras.
The event is open to the public.
