Community Connections receives $125,000 from CDC for community coalition initiatives

PRINCETON, WV (WOAY) – Community Connections has received new funding from the CDC.

The $125,000 dollar grant will be used to fund their community initiatives for the next year. The aim of the funding is to help build their community coalition network.

Executive director Greg Puckett says they are already planning their uses for the funding, and expect it to go to great use throughout the next year.

“There’s two basic things that we want to look at with this funding. Number one is to build the capacity of the local coalition. So that means to bring all the additional partners together. All the sectors from youth, media, law enforcement, schools. Everybody that we can bring from the community needs to come together so that we can help solve the problems. The second one is to lower the substance abuse issues amongst our youth.”
