The winds will become elevated with gusts to 30 mph and falling temperatures and rain between 6-9 p.m. as a front pushes through the region.
THURSDAY: Patchy freezing drizzle between 2-8 a.m. Thursday will be just enough to create a few frozen drops on your car windshield but all paved surfaces will remain wet. We will get just enough clearing for a spectacular sunset, albeit not completely clear.
FRIDAY: Expect a red sky in the morning, which means sailors’ head warning! Steady light snow will commence between 1-3 p.m., becoming moderate in intensity after dark and accumulating on most paved surfaces by 9 p.m. Overnight, the snow will become intermittent, but with temperatures dropping into the teens to low 20s, slippery spots are expected.
Timeline for how the winter storm will impact travel on our roads Friday into Saturday:
WEEKEND: Saturday will be blustery with flurries (an additional 1 inch of snow above 3,000 feet) while Sunday will be gorgeous and sunny.
CHRISTMAS WEEK: Temperatures will be near to slightly warmer than average. A few drips are expected Christmas Day with more rain expected late in the week. There are no travel concerns related to the weather expected Christmas week.
