Cold again tonight, but relief is not far away

It was a sunny but cold afternoon around the area. Temperatures are only in the 40s and feel even colder with the wind. It feels like it’s in the 30s everywhere this afternoon, so be sure to bundle up as you head out to your afternoon and evening plans. Tonight will be another cold night, with lows below the freezing mark everywhere again. There are once again Freeze Warnings to our northwest and southeast in the lower elevation areas where the growing season has already started.

The good news is that starting tomorrow, temperatures will be on the way up, although they still won’t quite be where they should be for the early to middle part of April. Highs will be in the middle 50s on Wednesday and Thursday, cooling off again as another low-pressure center brings us a good chance for rain toward the middle and end of the week. Some of the storms will have some thunder attached, and rain totals will be up to an inch in spots. While minor flooding is possible, widespread flooding won’t be a great concern since most areas will have had a chance to dry out by then.

The weekend looks like a mixed bag, with more showers and cold temperatures on Saturday giving way to sunshine and more seasonable temperatures on Sunday. The much-anticipated big warmup begins on Monday as highs will rise into the 70s, but another chance for showers is in the forecast as well, as another low passes to our north, part of the continued active pattern that we have seen for several weeks now.
