WELCH, WV (WOAY) – The 2020 Coalfields Heritage Festival has been open for applications regarding merchandise for the event.
This year was set to be the inaugural festival to remember the miner and growing up in the cornfields. The recent uptick in COVID-19 numbers in West Virginia has thrown some of the planning into flux.
“We are hoping to have this thing,” said Welch Mayor Harold McBride. “The COVID increase has caused the governor to set back some. We’re trying to try to get together and look at this thing and see how we can plan and do accordingly.”
The festival is currently scheduled for September 11-13 in Welch.
