Class Q hunting program offers opportunities for hunters with disabilities

Oak Hill, WV (WOAY) West Virginia’s Class Q hunting program offers expanded vehicle access on public land and special privileges for hunters with disabilities.

Along with a regular hunting license, a Class Q permit allows hunting out of a motorized vehicle with the engine turned off and allows another person who is at least 16 years old to assist the Class Q hunter.

Those with permanent respiratory, cardiovascular, and/or lower extremity use limitations may be eligible for a Class Q special use permit through the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources. Applications must also be certified by a licensed physician to be considered for approval.

Applications for the Class Q permit are available at all WVDNR offices or online at wvhunt.com.
