City of Richwood swears in new police chief

RICHWOOD, WV (WOAY) – The City of Richwood welcomes a new police chief.

Jacob Casey was sworn in as the new chief after the former chief was suspended.  Casey worked for Richwood previously from about 2014 to 2016. He has 14 years of experience in law enforcement.

According to the Nicholas County Sheriff’s Department, Charles Burkhamer Jr. was arrested after a domestic battery incident with his wife. Deputies say Burkhamer and his wife got into a domestic disturbance at their home. Burkhamer allegedly grabbed his wife by her arm and tried to get her out of the house.

According to Mayor Chris Drennen, Mr. Burkhamer has been demoted to his previous position of Lieutenant and remains on paid suspension pending his Standard Hearing Board.
