City of Princeton issues traffic advisory ahead of annual Christmas Parade on December 8

Princeton, WV (WOAY) If you’re heading out to the Princeton Christmas Parade on Monday, December 8, plan for traffic changes.

The parade begins at 7:00 p.m., but police will start closing roads earlier for safety.

At 5:30 p.m., the lower end of Mercer Street and South Second Street will close to all traffic.

Then, at 6:00 p.m., Mercer Street from Fourth Street to the Mercer County Courthouse will be completely shut down.

Roads will stay closed until the parade wraps up, and officers will be stationed throughout the area for traffic control and public safety.

Police are also reminding parents to supervise children closely along the route.

Safety barriers are in place, and kids should not enter the roadway while collecting candy.

Drivers should expect delays, use caution, and plan alternate routes.
