City of Bluefield responds to stay home order

BLUEFIELD, WV (WOAY) – As part of Bluefield’s response to the pandemic and in compliance with Governor Justice’s order, the follow actions are taking effect immediately.

City Hall will be closed to public access. If a resident has business with the city, the municipal court or sanitary board, call the city at 304-327-2401, municipal court at 304-327-6101 or the sanitary board at 304-325-3681. Residents can also go to the city web page, cityofbluefield.com. Paying city fees or sanitary board bills can be done online or by check.

The city is also ceasing operation of the day camp program Fitrec and closing the facility. With respect, City Park has previously closed to vehicles. The restrooms are also closed and there will be no facility or shelter rental until further notice. City park and the playgrounds are still open, but please maintain small group size and keep at least six feet of distance between individuals.

The board meeting schedule for March 24,2020 at 8:30 a.m., will be live streamed only and limited to statutorily required action on the budget. Public works will be maintaining its regular trash schedule but have trash on the curb no later than 7:00 a.m. The police and fire departments will respond to emergencies as usual.

The city thanks its residents for their patience and reminds everyone to stay home and stay well.
