Charleston shelter in desperate need of fosters after accident today

CHARLESTON, WV (WOAY) – The Kanawha-Charleston Humane Association is in a state of emergency after a Uhaul truck plowed into the side of their building.

The shelter said in a Facebook post today that it happened this morning. Staff were able to reach the dogs on that side of the building immediately. Only one dog was injured.

Right now, the biggest need is foster homes for the dogs. The building is compromised, and the only thing holding it up is the truck itself.

First responders are working to stabilize the building.

The Kanawha County commission said in a statement that it is assisting however it can and organizing help from other agencies.

For the time being, the Humane Association needs all the help it can get finding temporary homes for the dogs.

If you are able to foster some of the dogs, call Marissa Hsu at 681-319-1999.
