Charleston Man charged with federal drug crime

Charleston, WV (WOAY) – A 44-year-old Charleston man has been sentenced to prison for intent to sell drugs.

Jason Lorel Minter has been sentenced to 12 years and three months in prison and 4 years of supervised release for intent to deliver 50 grams or more of a mixture containing meth and 40 grams of a mixture with fentanyl. He also violated supervised release.

Court documents state that on September 10, 2024, law enforcement executed a search warrant at Minter’s home. They found 126.8 grams of fentanyl, 312.7 grams of meth, 490 grams of marijuana, a loaded Taurus Model G3 9mm pistol, a loaded Smith and Wesson M&P .40 caliber pistol and 1,522 dollars.

Minter confirmed he had the drugs.

Minter was serving a term of supervised release from his conviction of possession with intent to distribute 5 grams or more of cocaine base, possession of a firearm in a drug trafficking crime, and owning a firearm as a felon.
