OAK HILL, WV (WOAY) – More than a celebration, Mother’s Day reminds us of the essential role moms have in nurturing lives and empowering future generations.
One local nursery is helping honor mother figures for their love and support.
For 39 years, Casto’s Greenhouse has been celebrating Mother’s Day and Southern West Virginia moms.
“We are selling a lot of Mother’s Day gifts, and people come in here for Mother’s Day baskets, flowers, plants, and planters,” said Owner Mazie Casto.
It’s a great time to tell the mother figures in your life how much they mean to you. Castro’s Greenhouse always does that with beautiful flowers and plants.
According to Casto, sometimes big groups meet at the greenhouse for Mother’s Day. For a mom, there’s nothing like receiving flowers on the holiday or anytime.
“The (flower) recommendation would be to know if it’s going to be in the sun or shade,” she said. “But overall, as long as it’s blooming, mothers are happy.”
According to Casto, one of her favorite Mother’s Day flowers is begonias, a great statement plant with vibrant colors. There are endless floral and plant choices at Casto’s.
“They just come in and pick the varieties,” she said. “And they say it’s a slice of heaven. They ooh, and wow, practically get overwhelmed, it’s so pretty.”
Casto’s is gearing up for that Mother’s Day rush.
“We have a lot of last-minute people on Mother’s Day morning,” said Casto. “Come and get your Mother’s Day gifts and enjoy your flowers.”
