Calmer Day; Winter Weather Returns Tomorrow

WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): Roads will be icy this morning as temperatures slowly climb above freezing later in the day. Main roads will be slick in spots while secondary and untreated roads will be a sheet of ice until this afternoon. If travel is necessary, please be careful and drive slowly. The sun will peek out this afternoon, helping roads become wet later today. It will be a pretty uneventful day aside from some travel issues, but more winter weather is coming to the region soon. Meteorologist Christian Boteler has the details:

Rain, ice, and snow will impact the region tomorrow as the next system moves through the region. This system is taking a more familiar route this time around, coming from the Midwest and Great Lakes. The result is that our mountains will get purely snow and more accumulation while the lower elevations will get less snow accumulation and a switch to ice and rain later in the day. Most of the northern mountains will get 3-5″ of snow, the central ridgetops and northern counties will get 1-3″, and the Greenbrier Valley and southern coalfields will stay between a dusting and an inch. This wintery mix of weather will continue and switch to all snow overnight, lasting through Thursday morning before leaving in the afternoon.

After a brief break on Thursday, more snow and rain will impact the region on Friday as another system moves through. The snow may linger into Saturday morning before clearing out for the afternoon. After that, another system may impact the area overnight Saturday into Sunday morning. This system is more uncertain as models disagree heavily, but we will keep track on Sunday morning conditions as we get more information. For now, a chance of snow is possible. Sunday afternoon will be better after the quick hitter leaves, and we finally stay dry for multiple days as we go into the next work week. Here’s your 7-Day Forecast:
