WOAY – Fayetteville softball is headed to the Class A softball state tournament for the second straight after rallying to win their regional last week against Greenbrier West.
The Lady Pirates received key contributions in the three games from seniors Carrie Taylor and Sam Holbrook, who along with fellow senior Ashley Fridley have led the way throughout this season on the diamond. All three say it’s been a unique experience being role models for the younger players to look up to.
Fayetteville opens state tournament play Wednesday against Sherman, with the game beginning 30 minutes after the completion of Wheeling Central-Moorefield, which begins at 10 AM. The Lady Pirates are guaranteed to play a second game Wednesday afternoon.
