WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): This morning is feeling a bit brisk as temperatures remain in the 50s across our region. A light jacket may be warranted this morning during the commute, but can be shed in the afternoon. Patchy fog is also developing across the region, especially in the southern and western counties. Any fog that does form will burn up and dissipate by around 10 AM. After the fog leaves, skies remain mostly sunny through the day. Temperatures will reach the mid-70s this afternoon, which is slightly below average for this time of the year. These nicer conditions continue on Friday, ending the work week on a great note! Saturday morning will be nice as well, but the weather pattern will change later in the day. High pressure fades during the day and a low-pressure system will push into the region during the evening and overnight hours. Ahead of the main line, showers will develop and scatter across the viewing area. Rainfall remains scattered for the time being, but this is just the beginning of our issues. These showers will eventually become widespread on Sunday, and thunderstorms will become more likely. Rainfall will remain likely throughout the day as the system slowly crosses the state. If you have any weekend plans, having an indoor backup plan is a good choice. This setup does not particularly scream severe weather to me due to its arrival overnight.
Rainy conditions will continue next week despite the low-pressure system passing through late Sunday. While these chances will become scattered rather than widespread, showers and storms will remain in the forecast through Wednesday at least. Temperatures remain in the lower 80s, which will keep things around average for this time of the year. Again, nothing screams severe weather quite yet. No high pressure or drier air is trending to come in and end the pattern of scattered showers and storms, so you will need the rain gear for a few more days after the weekend.
