It’s been an overall nice Saturday across Southern West Virginia. We did have some early morning storms roll through the area in the early morning hours. There is a potential for more early morning storms as we head into Sunday mainly in the Southern Coalfields. Going into next week, most of it appears dry. There could be some light random showers that pop up on Monday, but for the most part it will be a great labor day region wide!
The most likely chance of rain looks to come Thursday as more thunderstorm activity is possible. Football Friday appears to be another nice day next week, but Saturday is a toss-up at the moment. Most weather models keep Saturday dry, but there are a couple that still show some type of rain. We will continue to watch the trends of these models over the next couple of days to determine if Saturday becomes another day where we can see rain. The European model doesn’t have much rain coming through next week, but there is potential for some places to pick up close to an inch of rain over the next 7 days.
Taking a look at that full 7 day forecast, there is the brief warm-up going into Thursday. Temperatures will hang around the mid 80’s for a couple days before they drop back into the low to mid 80’s. Low temperatures in the 50’s will definitely be possible in the higher elevations.
