Braxton County, WV (WOAY) – A Braxton County man is sentenced to prison for defrauding charities that benefit sick children.
Gary Beamer appeared for sentencing before Braxton County Circuit Judge Micheal W. Asbury, Jr. on Monday April 14, 2025. The defendant had previously entered a guilty plea to three felonies for obtaining money by false pretenses related to fundraising for St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital and the Alzheimer’s Association through beauty pageants which he ran. Beamer then kept the money for his own use.
Beamer was sentenced to 1 to 10 years in prison on each of the three felonies. The sentences are ordered to be served consecutively for a total sentence of 3 to 30 years in prison.
The defendant was taken into custody immediately and held at the Regional Jail pending his transfer to prison.
