Braxton County, WV (WOAY) – A Braxton County man has been sentenced on sex related charges involving a minor.
According to a Facebook post from the Braxton County Prosecutors Office, on September 4, 2025, 55-year-old Carl Woodrow Bender was sentenced to five to twenty-five years in prison.
Bender previously entered a guilty plea in the courtroom of Judge Jasmine R. H. Morton to sexual abuse in the first degree with a victim less than twelve years of age.
According to the post, Bender is also required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life. Upon his release from prison, he will be on extended supervision for sexual offenders for a period of fifty years.
Carl Woodrow Bender is being held in the Central Regional while awaiting transfer to a State Facility.
