Oak Hill, WV (WOAY) – In an all-Fayette County matchup, Fayetteville and Valley met for a third time on Friday, this time for a Class A Region 3 Section 1 championship.
The Pirates and Greyhounds traded baskets in the early going, with Fayetteville leading 11-8 after the first quarter. Fayetteville then gained momentum in the second quarter, going into halftime with a 10-point lead. That momentum would continue through the night in a 60-39 win, as the Pirates are now 23-0.
Ricky Meadows led all scorers with 21 points, while Will Fenton contributed with 20. Dondre Davis was the leading scorer for the Greyhounds with 13.
Fayetteville will host Summers County Thursday in the Class A regionals, while Valley will play Greater Beckley at the Beckley-Raleigh County Convention Center.
