After Fayetteville’s season came to an end, Valley had an opportunity to carry the torch for Fayette County as they faced Wheeling Central in the state quarterfinals. Unfortunately for the young Greyhounds, the Maroon Knights came out firing from downtown, and staked out an 18-5 lead after the first quarter.
The first half was tough for Valley, but they didn’t lose hope. They regrouped and dominated the third quarter, outscoring Wheeling Central 26-8. Spencer Dean led the Greyhounds with 21 points, and the team showed great potential for its future, but Wheeling Central held on for the 67-52 win.
