Fayetteville, WV (WOAY) – After qualifying for the state tournament in 2016, Fayetteville boys basketball made it a goal throughout this season to return to Charleston.
A 59-42 win against Summers County has the Pirates going back to the state capital next week.
Both teams enjoyed success on offense early, with the Bobcats and Pirates trading the lead in the opening minutes. But the hosts established a nine-point lead in the first quarter, which grew throughout the evening.
Luke Vass had 17 points off the bench for Fayetteville, while Will Fenton scored 14 and Ricky Meadows contributed 10. Dacota Thomas led Summers County with 14 points.
Fayetteville is the third seed in next week’s Class A state tournament; they will face Madonna at 9:30 AM on Wednesday, March 15th.
