BECKLEY, WV (WOAY) – Starting this week, the Bowers Hospice House will be offering free grief classes to anyone needing help during a time of loss.
The Hospice House has been around since 2006 and offers in-patient care to people in the latest stages of their illnesses, as well as grief services for family members.
Christina Bailey, a social services coordinator at the house, encourages people to seek help if they feel like they are struggling with their grief.
“I think the importance of grief support is to offer people tips and tools that they might not recognize. And we also want to normalize grief for people. It’s a normal reaction and sometimes the emotions of grief can make use feel like we’re going a little bit crazy. And we’re really not, it’s just a normal response to losing a significant loved one and we wanna let people know that,” Bailey said.
The grief classes will be held once a week on Thursdays until April 9th.Â
