Boone Memorial Hospital helped miners complete their federal black lung claims

BECKLEY, WV (WOAY) – Today, the Boone Memorial Hospital hosted an outreach event in Beckley for current and retired miners to complete their federal black lung claims.

The Boone Memorial Hosptial Black Lung Center specializes in helping miners file for their federal black lung claims as well as testing. Over 70 current and retired miners attended. The outreach event took place at the Beckley-Raleigh County Convention Center and was free of charge.

“It will help out me and my wife, I’m 67 so all I have is social security. I don’t have 401k or company retirement or union retirement,” said miner George Lambert, who worked 44 years in the coal mining industry.
