Bolte’s 51 Points Lead Concord to MEC Semifinals

Charleston, WV (WOAY) – Tommy Bolte scored a Mountain East Conference-record 51 points as Concord men’s basketball defeated Fairmont State 89-84 in the MEC Tournament quarterfinals on Friday.

The 51 points match the season-high single-game record for NCAA Division II.

Bolte, a first team selection earlier this week, played all 40 minutes against the Falcons, connecting on 20 field goals out of 35 attempts. B.J. Hamlet, who also played all 40 minutes, contributed 10 points, while Trey Briscoe added six points and 10 rebounds. Vonte Montgomery led Fairmont State with 20 points.

The contest was back-and-forth from start to finish, with the Mountain Lions & Falcons tied at 41 at halftime, and tied in the late stages before Concord took the lead for good in the final minutes. It’s Concord’s fourth straight MEC Tournament win, dating back to 2016.

The Mountain Lions advance to Saturday’s semifinal against #2 seed Wheeling Jesuit, who was the last team to beat Concord in the tournament (2015 quarterfinals). Tipoff in Charleston is scheduled for 8:15 PM.
