Board of Education must approve schools safety program before reopening

OAK HILL, WV (WOAY) – Governor Jim Justice announced on Wednesday that public schools would be set to open on September 8th.

According to Dave Perry, a member of the West Virginia Board of Education, all schools across the state will be required to create a safety plan based on a 26-page document called Re-entry Toolkit Guideline adopted by the Board of Education. Each plan will explain how that school plans on protecting staff members and students when school resumes.

“When re-entering schools, they need to know that things will be sanitized. Every prevision and every precaution was taken for the safety of not only students for teachers as well,” said Perry.

The Board must approve each safety plan by August 15th.
