Bluefield University offering Mercer County high school students a head start on higher education with early pathway program

Bluefield, WV (WOAY)- Some exciting news for high school students in Mercer County: they now have a head start on college thanks to a new partnership with Bluefield University.

Eligible students can transfer up to 15 hours of business coursework directly into Bluefield’s degree programs, giving them a faster, more affordable path to a college diploma.

Seniors who complete specific business classes with a grade of C or better can now apply and bring those credits with them to college.

First-year students can also begin the pathway early, locking in credits for future use.

The program aligns with Bluefield’s accelerated “3+1” business track, allowing students to earn both a bachelor’s degree and an MBA in just four years.

Course offerings include accounting, entrepreneurship, personal finance, and more.

To receive credit, students must apply to Bluefield and submit an official high school transcript.

Applications are open now.
