Bluefield State University to celebrate 128th commencement

Bluefield, WV (WOAY) – Bluefield University announces details for its 128th Commencement Ceremony.

According to a press release, the Commencement Ceremony will take place on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at the Brushfork Armory in Bluefield, West Virginia.

The keynote address will be delivered by Marvin Woodie Jr., President of Conn-Weld Industries, LLC. Mr. Woodie has had an extensive career in the engineering and manufacturing sector and has been a longtime supporter of educational and economic development in the region. 

Bluefield University will award 289 degrees and certificates, including 99 associate degrees, 174 bachelor’s degrees, 13 MBA degrees, and 3 certificates.  Valedictorian Peyton Thomas Whitt and Salutatorian Casey Lane Hazlewood have both completed dual engineering degrees with exceptional academic performance.
