PRINCETON, WV (WOAY) – A Mercer County man will serve at least 35 years in prison for the sexual abuse of a child.
Donald Ray White, a 34-year-old man from Bluefield, was found guilty of two counts of sexual abuse by a parent and guardian, sexual abuse in the first degree, and an attempt to commit sexual abuse.
The trial lasted three days.
He was sentenced today by Circuit Court Judge William Sadler. He will spend at least 35 years behind bars, but he could be in prison for 120 years.
Mercer County Prosecuting Attorney Brian Cochran thanked law enforcement and child protection agencies for their work in the case.
“Our police officers in Mercer County and our prosecutor’s office continue to work diligently to prosecute those who harm children in our area and to make sure that we are doing everything we can to allow our children in Mercer County to grow up in a safe and healthy community.”
Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Lauren Lynch led the prosecution.
