Blue Jays fan buried without prized jersey after theft

MERCER COUNTY, WV (WOAY) – The Bluefield Blue Jays’ biggest fan is laid to rest, but without a prized item.

Henry Belcher, also known as “Double Out,” passed away after falling ill recently and was laid to rest June 5.

His one wish was to wear his one-of-a-kind Blue Jay jersey when he was buried, but a thief that ransacked his home while he was hospitalized made off with the prized possession. Now, his loved ones beg for its return.

“The family would love to have the jersey,” said friend Rocky Malamisura. “No questions asked, they can come by, drop it off at the ballpark. We won’t ask any questions. It would be a fitting tribute to at least be able to give that back to his family.”

Belcher was known for his love of baseball and always made himself known at the games with his loud cheers.
