Raleigh County, WV (WOAY) – Beckley Water employees will recognize Source Water Protection Week on Wednesday with an adopt-a-highway cleanup.
Beckley Water recently adopted a two-mile section of highway near both of its water treatment plants.
On Wednesday, employees will spend the morning clearing litter and debris along the newly adopted highways near the Glade Springs Reservoir and Sweeney’s Bridge water treatment facilities.
Source Water Protection Week is recognized from September 27 through October 3. It helps raise awareness about the importance of protecting rivers, reservoirs, groundwater, and watersheds that communities depend on for drinking water.
