Beckley restarts curbside recycling program after six-month hiatus

BECKLEY, WV (WOAY) – This week the City of Beckley restarted their curbside recycling program.

The program shut down in March due to concerns surrounding the pandemic, but now the city has started collecting recyclables once again.

According to the city’s Public Works Director Jerry Stump, the six month hiatus has likely made some people forget about the service, and they encourage residents to start leaving out their recyclables once again.

“Since starting back it’s been a little bit slow. We’re not picking up quite the amount that we normally had been whenever we stopped. But we’ve been getting calls and I think people are going to start picking things back up again,” Stump said.

Beckley picks up recycling Monday through Friday, every other week.
