BECKLEY, WV (WOAY) – Beckley Pride is beginning a new initiative for community walking events.
The Stride with Pride event is set to happen on the second Saturday of each month. It’s a simple group walk along different areas in Beckley. Roughly a dozen people showed up for the first one that happened this weekend.
Beckley Pride’s President Christina Baisden says the two-mile walk in downtown Beckley is meant to be a new way to bring the community together.
“We are having our Stride with Pride event, which is going to be one of our monthly walking events. It’s to get people to socialize, come together, exercise in the process, and get people feeling better about our current state of affairs,” Baisden said.
The next Stride with Pride event is scheduled for October 10.
