Beckley, WV (WOAY) – One local fire department is teaming up with the American Red Cross to encourage the community to save lives by donating blood.
The Beckley Fire Department is partnering with the non-profit to host a blood drive on Tuesday, January 2.
In September, the American Red Cross reported the U.S. blood supply reached critically low levels and that donations have decreased nearly 25 percent since August 2023.
The non-profit encourages organizations to host blood drives to help combat the shortage.
The event is open to the public and will be held at the Beckley Fire Department on 232 Industrial Drive from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm.
