Beckley Dream Center to finally close doors after operating as food bank during pandemic

BECKLEY, WV (WOAY) – Around the state, many food banks have closed due to the pandemic, but the Beckley Dream Center has still been operating to provide food to those in need.

The center is typically supportive of the community, oftentimes holding clothing and food drives. And just recently, they finished their last day of handing out food before shutting down like other organizations.

Martha Smith, a member of the Dream Center, says it’s the least they can do to help their community in this time of need.

“We are just trying to meet the needs of the community, trying to make sure that no one’s hungry. And just doing what we can do to help make this a little better,” Smith said.

The Dream Center is closing its doors tonight to abide by the Governor’s recent executive order.
