Beckley Council approves ordinance to make section of Woodlawn Ave. a two-way street

BECKLEY, WV (WOAY) – One section of a one-way will soon become a two-way street in Beckley.

Beckley Common Council officially approved the ordinance to make the section of Woodlawn Avenue between Neville Street and Alaska Avenue two-way.

The city has torn down two buildings on Earwood Avenue  to put in parking, primarily for WVU Tech students, and they hope this helps with the parking lot flow.

“It’s just more conducive for traffic to flow if that’s a little two-way street right there,” Beckley Councilman Tom Sopher said. “It’s been one-way for many many years.”

Signage is expected to go up soon.
