BECKLEY, WV (WOAY) – The regular Beckley Common Council meeting scheduled for April 14, 2020, has been canceled due to the corona pandemic.
A special meeting of the Common Council will be held on April 21, 2020, at 8:30 am in the council chambers to approve the levy rates for the fiscal year 2020/2021.
This levy approval meeting is required by the West Virginia state auditor’s office to be held on the third Tuesday of every April. Combining the work of the Council, the bid for concrete and asphalt for the Board of Public Works will also be awarded at this meeting.
In order to comply with the CDC’s recommendations and to help stop the spread of the coronavirus disease — social distancing will be observed and the meeting will be audio streamed to the public via Facebook.
The live audio stream will begin promptly at 8:30 am on April 21, 2020, on the City’s Facebook pages.
