RALEIGH COUNTY, WV (WOAY) – Beckley ARH regularly partners with local organizations to improve community health and well-being.
And that’s what they did, by making a $5,000 donation to the Salvation Army for their November Thanksgiving meal.
With food insecurity impacting many, giving to the Beckley Corps made sense.
“Not just in healthcare, but also I’m a dad, so it means something to me to know I’m helping kids,” said BARH CEO Todd Howell, adding that he has six children. “So it’s important to me to make sure kids’ needs are being met. That’s where we try to align ourselves a lot with what we do, particularly with kids.”
Salvation Army’s Captain Liz Blusiewicz calls ARH’s gesture huge.
“This is going to help provide food for families in need. Especially around holiday time, finances are tight, and we never want a family to choose between putting dinner on the table for their family or paying the light bill,” Blusiewicz said. “So this Thanksgiving dinner and these boxes are going to help over 500 families right here in Raleigh County.
