RALEIGH COUNTY, WV (WOAY) – With the recent floods that ravaged Southern West Virginia, the Beckley Area Foundation is doing its part to make a difference.

They created two community flood relief funds: the Community Fund for McDowell County and the Community Fund for Wyoming County.

Local non-profits on the ground providing assistance will be sent 100 percent of donations.

McDowell County Flood Relief funds will be sent to the Salvation Army of Beckley and Wyoming County Flood Relief funds will be sent to Mountain Heart Community Services, Inc.

“It’s very important for us to help not only Raleigh County but the surrounding counties in Southern West Virginia when we can. And it’s important to our donors who make it possible,” said Executive Director Dena Cushman.

“There’s a lot of organizations and individuals throughout Southern West Virginia and beyond that have helped with these flood relief efforts. And I’m sure it’s so meaningful to those people who live in those areas.”
