Autumn Colors Express announces 2021 Rail Excursion Season

Autumn Express

WEST VIRGINIA (WOAY) – The Rail Excursion Management Co. (website: railexco.com), a national leader in railroad excursions and charters, today announces the 2021 Autumn Colors Express (website: acewva.com) taking place from October 21-24, 2021. The Autumn Colors Express continues the 50+ year tradition of transporting passengers in vintage railroad equipment to Hinton’s Railroad Days Festival, held the same weekend. There will be four days of train excursions, expanded since the inaugural 2019 event, originating in downtown Huntington, WV with a station stop in Charleston.

The Autumn Colors Express will consist of 25-30 privately-owned vintage railcars, with meal service provided on board to every passenger, as part of their ticket price. The round-trip train ride will feature on-board entertainment and historic narration. Lunch is available from the many food vendors in Hinton, featuring the newly-renovated Hinton Depot and station platform. The train will lay over in Hinton for approximately three hours while guests enjoy the Hinton Railroad Days Festival.

Railexco CEO Adam Auxier: “We’re overjoyed to announce the 2021 dates for ACE, especially given our postponement of this year’s event. We can’t wait to get ‘back on track’ and share this amazing excursion with our great friends and partners in West Virginia. Railexco owes a massive debt of gratitude to Senator Manchin’s team, as well as our tourism and event partners in Huntington, Charleston, and Hinton. With a fourth day added to the 2021 train schedule, we’ll be able to share this great tradition with even more people”

Railexco Marketing Officer Lou Capwell: “2021’s Autumn Colors Express is the largest Amtrak Special Train of the year, and we can’t wait to once again work alongside our partners at Amtrak as they celebrate their 50th year as America’s Railroad. We are proud to bring this great tradition back to the people of West Virginia, and to celebrate passenger railroading along the famous New River Gorge Route.”

Railexco Chief Mechanical Officer Mike Voiland: “This year’s excursion car collection will be among the best in recent memory- we’ve brought back many of our passengers’ favorite railcars, as well as a few surprises that we’ll announce later in the season.”

Railexco is a national leader in charter and special trains, as well as private railcar logistics, management and marketing. With over thirty years of combined success in the passenger rail industry, Railexco is well-positioned to bring passengers and stakeholders some of today’s most popular railroad events, such as Autumn Colors Express.
