Artists sharing their passion with their community through music

LANSING, WV (WOAY)- “It’s an amazing thing to get to entertain people and make people happy, you know?” said Randy Gilkey, a local artist.

Performing for an audience is any artists dream. Getting the opportunity perform at local venues, such as chetty’s pub here at adventures on the gorge, means so much to these local performers as they get an opportunity to share their passion with the community that they love so much.

Many artists just want the chance to share their music and bring light into people’s life. Doing it for their local community makes it all the more special.

“I love it. You know, it’s just, you know, our world right now is kind of getting crazy and it’s just good to be able to bring smiles on people’s faces,” said Gilkey. “It’s something that I always do. And, you know, I always loved doing. You know, it’s just something special to make other people happy. I guess you could say.”

Randy has been performing since 1989. He’s performed in a variety of places but doing it for his local community just reminds him how blessed he is.

“I got to play at the state fair. Once we opened for Styx, I was in a band called Square and we opened for Styx. That was pretty cool, you know?” explained Glikey. “I don’t guess there was a favorite gig. It’s just you’re blessed to get to do all of them, so they’re all special in their own way.”
