Beckley, WV (WOAY) We have an update on the heartbreaking animal cruelty case out of Raleigh County, as the owner has been identified and arrested.
Newswatch previously reported on the incident where an adult dog and a puppy were left tied up outside amid a heavy snowstorm and freezing temperatures.
Authorities and employees with the Raleigh County Humane Society acted quickly to save the dogs and were able to save the adult dog.
However, the puppy, which was no more than a month old, tragically froze to death.
According to court records, officers with the Beckley Police Department arrested 38-year-old Brandi Kay Rorrer and charged her with two counts of cruelty to animals – abandoned to die.Â
She was arraigned on the charges in Raleigh County Magistrate Court and is now free on a $10,000 bond.Â
