Armed robbery at a Dollar General in Mercer County

MERCER COUNTY, WV (WOAY) – An armed robbery took place in Mercer County Wednesday morning.
The robbery took place at the Dollar General on Maple Acres Road around 9:00AM. The suspect is described as a black man approximately 5’10” to 6 feet tall, 170 to 200 pounds, and was wearing all black from top to bottom.
“So at approximately 9 AM a black male subject entered a Dollar General produced a firearm to the clerk,” Detective Sergeant Steven Sommers said. “Struck the clerk in the back of the head and took her to the front of the store where he was able to obtain an undisclosed amount of cash. He left on foot and two canines were utilized from the sheriff’s department and was able to track the suspect from Dollar General towards Blueprints Road and back onto Maple Acres Road.”
Detective Sommers asks anyone who was in the area between 8:30AM and 2:00PM on Wednesday to call the Mercer County Sheriff’s office and describe what they saw.
