Appalachian Power has utility upgrade scheduled for Beckley area

Beckley, WV (WOAY) – Appalachian Power wants to get the word out about scheduled utility improvements that will impact traffic in the Beckley area.

The utility company will install bigger lines that will enhance reliability and also support the electric load necessary for business growth in the area. The work will also give the State of West Virginia an opportunity to perform maintenance on the Mabscott Plus 1 Bridge.

The upgrade project is scheduled to take place on Sunday June 8, 2025, between the hours of 6:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. if weather permits. The impacted area will be along Robert C Byrd Drive, between Depot St. and Frontier St.
