Appalachian Power Foundation provides $2.4 million in funding in 2025 to support the work of community agencies

West Virginia (WOAY) Appalachian Power is recognizing the work of over 80 community organizations, awarding over $2.4 million in funding in 2025 through the Appalachian Power Foundation.

The support is helping power initiatives focused on first responders, food and housing insecurity, disaster relief, and education across the company’s service territory.
In West Virginia, Appalachian Power recently presented a $60,000 donation to S.A.F.E., a sanctuary that supports women and children escaping domestic violence.
Company leaders say the funding will help meet urgent needs, including food, clothing, beds for residents, and critical roof repairs.
The foundation also provided about $665,000 to assist first responders in more than 20 counties and municipalities.
The funds helped agencies purchase equipment like gear decontamination washers, drones, rescue tools, and support training needs.
Additional funding is targeting food insecurity, with 25 organizations receiving support for meals, food boxes, and pantry supplies, while a $250,000 is for essential housing repairs.
Appalachian Power leaders say the goal is not only to meet immediate needs but to foster long-term opportunity across the region.
The Appalachian Power Foundation is a nonprofit organization funded through shareholder dollars.
