West Virginia (WOAY) The Appalachian Flood Resilience Coalition is hosting a webinar this week focused on the long-term challenges of disaster recovery in West Virginia.
The virtual event will be held on Friday, June 26, at noon, featuring survivors of the devastating 2016 floods, along with experts discussing research, policy, and funding needs for future disaster resilience.
Organizers say the webinar will highlight recovery challenges that often go overlooked long after floodwaters recede and examine lessons learned from one of the state’s deadliest natural disasters.
The discussion comes as Congress considers changes to speed up access to federal disaster recovery funding for affected communities.
