McDowell County, WV (WOAY) – Another arrest has been made in an investigation into a contraband smuggling scheme at FCI McDowell.
Christian Torres from Honduras was arrested at an Airbnb on Noe Street in Welch. He was arrested as part of an investigation into an incident this week.
According to the McDowell County Sheriff’s Department, deputies saw three men exit a black SUV with South Carolina plates and run towards FCI McDowell, carrying footballs allegedly containing tobacco and a cell phone
One of the men allegedly crossed onto FCI property and ran when confronted.
All three were detained after a foot chase that ended in the woods between Edmore Road and FCI McDowell.
Deputies also detained two women inside the SUV.
Marquevious Williams, Tymarion Floyd, Tylik Pratt, Shunda Robinson, and Kelly Wight were charged with aiding escape and other offenses related to a correctional facility and conspiracy, among other criminal charges.
