Beckley, WV (WOAY)- Changes are underway at Beckley Motor Speedway this weekend.
The highly anticipated Upper Big Branch Miners’ Memorial race, initially scheduled to kick off this weekend, has been postponed until June 19-21.
Track officials say they’ve been closely monitoring the forecast, and with heavy rain expected on Friday and into Saturday, the decision was made out of respect for the teams traveling from across the southeast, many of whom hope to compete for the $15,000 prize.
As for this Saturday, officials say they hope to run a regular show still, but that will depend on how much rain the area receives.
