OAK HILL, WV (WOAY) – A local candidate for the House of Delegates is holding a back-to-school bash next week.
The event, hosted by Mathew Anderson, a Democrat running for District 50 in the House of Delegates, is scheduled for Aug. 7 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Oak Hill Convention Center.
There will be a school supply giveaway, food pantry table, and other activities like games and door prizes. Anderson said the event is open to all of Fayette County.
“We want everybody in Fayette County to come out. We will have balloon animals, face painting, school supplies. We’re going to have some musical instruments for the kids, food for the kids, a food pantry table for anybody that needs that. So this is kind of our moment to give back to the community. As an educator myself, starting the school year back is kind of frowned upon,” Anderson said. “The kids don’t ever want to come back. They don’t want to end their summer. So we wanted to give them something to look forward to and just really instill that confidence as they go into this school year.”
