We have seen a mix of sun and clouds around the area this afternoon, and there have been some showers and storms around as well.
Highs were generally kept in check, especially in areas that saw more cloud cover. Most of us wound up in the middle to upper 70s. Tonight, the lows will be in the upper 50s and lower 60s, also a shade warmer than they would be due to the clouds. There will also be chances for more rain. Some of the storms that roll into the area could be on the strong side, but we should keep most of the storms below severe levels as they weaken a bit as they move into the state.
Tomorrow, we’ll see more weather as the pattern continues. A series of disturbances will move into and through the area, and these will continue to give us rain chances.
Some of the storms could again be on the strong side, but the chance for that is smaller than it is today. Highs will again be on the cool side in relative terms, only topping out in the lower to middle 70s. Lows will be in the lower to middle 60s.
The active weather continues through much of the week ahead, with chances for rain all the way through Saturday.
For now, it looks like rain for the Fabulous Friday Night football games, but there are still some questions regarding the timing of the rain that day. One thing seems more certain, that high pressure will move into the area and clear us out by late in the forecast period. Before that happens, some areas will pick up more than 2″ of rain if the atmospheric model predictions are correct. It seems like a reasonable bet; some areas could get even more, but this will be localized. By the end of the week, there could be standing water in some spots, and with any of the storms that develop, there could be ponding water as well.
If there is any saving grace involved with all this rain, it’s that it’s spread out enough, and we’ve been dry enough before this week, to keep flooding chances low.
